Trans Java Expedition #2 (Day 2)

We are going back to Jakarta yeay! Still, we got another missions to be accomplished today which is FOODBIZ! We will tell about our discussion related to foodbiz later. But first thing first, we gotta find money for paying toll and gasoline.
So before we go to our first destination for today which is Jasamarga Office Semarang, we deciced to stop by rest area km 538b and sell our inventory and sell it. Luckily, we got money around 400k rupiahs to buy e-toll and gasoline later.

Together we will survive! Fighting!

Visit Company Jasamarga

Our next agenda today is visiting Jasamarga office branch Semarang to have meet and greet witn senior roadster.  In this ocassion we got a lot of advice about working in Jasamarga from fellow senior roadsters. How Jasamarga always value attitude and  ask us, the jet roadster candidates, to get ready of putting our dedication in Jasamarga and working hard. In the end, they give us two questions to be answered in the form of video. First question is about why we wants to be part of Jasamarga. Second question is about the improvement of Jasamarga for better customer satisfaction in the future. We gotta make video to answer that. Okay. Fighting.

After attending meet and greet, we are instructed to go to Jasamarga office Semarang-Batang to playing Foodbiz game. But small incident happened hehe. We are supposed to stop by Kalikangkung gate but we miss the stop and drive too far by 1 kms! Our driver suggest to drive the backwards but we think it is too dangerous so we called Jet Roadster admin. He suggest us to take a turn and open the barricade hehe.

Next we arrived and playing games! In thia games, our strategy is to serve healthy food and modified the menu to attract the customers. We decided to serve roasted chicken and telur padang as our main signature. Beside that we also serve special custom menu for customers such as babat goreng penyet. For the price, we decided it by calculating the cost and margin that we want, but we try to stick to the rules of price. We spare the capital by around 600k rupiahs as reserve fund.

Realization: a lot of customers are really interested in our special menu of roasted chicken. But our price is to low compared to another group. Because of that, we got loss in this games hehe. It is okay, we still learn a lot how to be more specific in defining target and adaptive in every situations.

It is the end of our #transjavaquest activity! Thank you ka Irres, all observes, all comittes that always taking care of us in this journey. It is been an unforgottable experience!
See you!

Trans Java Expedition Journey #1 (Day 2)

Hello guys!

Come back again with us hehe

We will explain that how amazing this journey in day 2.

First, we feel very happy becauser we going back to Jakarta yeay!

Fighting!

Trans Java Expedition Journal #3 (Day 1)

Heyho Guys!

Finally we arrived at Pit Stop 2, and on the way to Pit Stop 3!

This is so amazing!!!! Interesting!!!

We will tell you about our journey in Pit Stop 2. So keep reading our journal ya guys!

First....

We really come to pit stop to with almost no money. It was because before coming to pit stop, we stop by to top up the e toll for 250k. At pitstop 2, we put 500k as our minimum standard, at least we survive to buy driver dinner and gasoline to Surabaya. It turns out that we exceed our expectations. The first 10 minutes we arrived, we had a discussion about the target market (well, more like “guess” the target market at that rest area), then our observed, kak irres, asked how we’re doing and she actually bought a couple of electronic stuffs from us! We then divided the selling practices into 2 : a. Merchant/UMKM b.Family in a group (with the packages). For family market we were straight offering to a group of local tourist that have a dinner in front of their bus. We’re so lucky that some families were into our items and they bought some for themselves. Meanwhile, for wholesaler market, we offers our products to UKM center. Moreover, we’re very lucky because 2 merchants/UMKM bought a lot of items in bundles from us! Our strategy focused on something that we called “offering gradually”. It works by offering one item that leads to other items. We were also persuade our customers with friendly manners, by building rapports with them. We’re also very grateful that one of the merchants actually made us free orange juice and popmie!

From this 2nd pitstop, we surely got a lot of insights. We realized that it takes not only strategy, but also flexibility when it comes to marketing. We also found out that friendly manner is also the main key of marketing.

Jasa Marga opening opportunity for best graduate to join Jasa Marga family. This recruitment divided into 6 quests.

Quest 2 -  Video Profile

Quest 5 - Interview BOD
Quest 6 - The Academy

And finally...... GRADUATION!

Now, we are in Quest 3.

First, we arrived in Jasa Marga Office at 6 a.m. Then, we prepare our stuff to enter to the car.
After that, we gathered on the stage for opening remarks. Then, symbolized by flag off event.

Here we will explain our marketing strategy that we have arranged in super short time, only 45 minutes! (clapclapclap). Its kinda challenging to arrange a strategy that involved a lot of risk in that amount of time tho, but it gave us new experience that we never tried before. Let's take a look to further explanation!

Basically we sell anything that we called "basic travel needs". From snack, tissue, drink, and electronic devices such as power bank and headset. Why we choose those products? Because first, based on feasibility of purchasing, those kind of products is the easiest. We only got 1.5 hour, and with that limited amount of time we should put our efforts in some decisions, as effective as possible. And second, based on customer focus, the location is mostly visited by traveler and through our products,we are ready to provide their needs.

Below is the further explanations of our target market:

First target: End Consumer (B2C)

For this target we repackaged our products that we bought into goodie bag. We divided this market into two sub markets: DRIVER MARKET AND FAMILY MARKET (non driver) and differentiate the products based on their needs. The products for driver market consist of kratingdaeng, cigarette, coffee, and peanut/chips. Meanwhile the products for family consist of tea/pocari, 2 chips, candy, and biscuit. We sold for 25 thousands rupiah/bag for driver and 15 thousands rupiah/bag for family.

Second target: Wholesaler Market (B2B)

For this target we sold our product to the wholesaler. Earlier we have spared the the products which we don't repackaged, to wholesaler. Wholesaler here means "warung" or small outlet in the rest area. We sold it in quantity of dozen and carton. Actually this target is our "key of survival" lol, because the amount of big cash that it gives in a single transaction. Because of that, we sold our product cheaper than the usual price. But we still try to limit the price gap not much lower than usual price.

Realization and Obstacle (Pit Stop 1):
In this pit stop we got lot more sales from wholesaler market rather than end consumer market. The demand that happens in that area is also relatively low due two weekday. For end-consumer market, the sales was mostly came from driver market rather than family market because the vehicles that stop by was dominantly truck. Meanwhile for wholesaler market, the obstacle happened because a lot of shopkeeper in the outlet there is not the owner. So they could not make a decisions in inventory purchasing eventhough they are really interested. Luckily we got one shopkeeper who are very communicative to the owner via phone, so she bought our products a lot.

Beside obstacles, our group also met some distractions. The first distraction we ever thought about is how hectic we were due to individualchallenges (instagram stories, instagram posts and twitter thread). Not only individiually, the fact that we have  to do group challenge (like videos when we're oin he way) was hard to keep up with. However we managed to be productive, by finishing  both individual challenges and team challenges. The second distraction would be the (super) hot weather and empty-stomaches. Our energy were soaked up by the sun. We haven't had a proper lunch also might be an issue. Luckily, we could eat some of our snacks (such as fruits, yakult, chips, milk and biscuits).

How we deal with obstacles:
For the next pitstop, known that we got a lot of sales from wholesaler, so we will mainly focus on wholesaler market. For the end-consumer market, we will focus on group, so that we could offer our products to a lot of people at once.
